Before you install anything

Four things that prevent most of the support tickets we receive.

Take a backup first

For anything touching a live site or store — a plugin, a theme, a migration — take a backup and confirm you can restore it. A backup nobody has tested isn't a backup.

Try it somewhere safe

Staging site, development store, or a copy of the data. Every one of our tools is designed to be tested before it touches production, and the migration tools have a dry-run mode specifically for this.

Check the requirements

Platform version, PHP or Python version, permissions. The technical details on each product page list what matters; if something reads —, ask us and we'll confirm for your exact setup.

Keep the licence details handy

Support requests move considerably faster when the first message includes the licence, the version and the exact steps that produced the problem.

// troubleshooting

When something isn't working

Work through these before raising a ticket — between them they resolve most first-day problems:

  1. Confirm the version. Both the product's and the platform's. A mismatch after a platform update is the single most common cause.
  2. Rule out interference. On WordPress and Shopify, another plugin or app is very often the actual cause. Testing with a default theme and minimal plugins narrows it in minutes.
  3. Check permissions. File permissions, API scopes and user roles cause failures that look like bugs but aren't.
  4. Read the error properly. The exact message matters — “it doesn't work” and a screenshot of the error are days apart in how quickly we can help.
  5. Then email us. Include what you tried from this list, so we don't ask you to repeat it.
